The app

Lumen is a media center application published by Vik Mortier, Zaventem, Belgium. It is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. The desktop, phone and TV apps are free of charge.

Addons and content

Lumen ships no content sources. It is compatible with an open addon protocol and plays what the addons you choose to install return. You are responsible for the addons you install and for having the right to watch what you watch. Addons are third-party services that are not operated, endorsed or reviewed by us. We respond to notices sent to hello@lumen.movie.

Lumen Pass

What it is.

Lumen Pass is a one-time purchase that unlocks syncing through Lumen's hosted relay (sync.lumen.movie) for one household: one sync space and every device paired to it. The Lumen app is free and stays free. A Pass is only needed to keep syncing through Lumen's relay after the 14-day trial. Syncing through a relay you host yourself never needs a Pass.

Who you buy from.

The payment is processed by Stripe under Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe is the merchant of record for the transaction: it issues your receipt, collects any applicable VAT and handles refund payments. The service and the Pass key are provided by Lumen (Vik Mortier, Zaventem, Belgium).

Price.

€19, paid once. The price includes VAT where it applies. This is an early-adopter price; it may change for future purchases. Nothing is ever charged again for a Pass you already hold.

Getting and activating your Pass.

After payment, your Pass key is shown on the receipt page and emailed to the address you used at checkout. Paste it into the Khóa giấy phép field under Cài đặt → Đồng bộ giữa các thiết bị in Lumen, on any device. Devices paired with that household inherit the Pass; there is nothing to enter on them. Keep the key private: anyone holding it can activate it for their household.

One household at a time, transferable.

A Pass is active for one household at a time. You can move it to a new household from Cài đặt → Đồng bộ giữa các thiết bị in the app; the previous household then stops syncing through Lumen's relay, and its local data stays on its devices. Sharing a key beyond your own household is not permitted; the relay enforces one household per Pass.

Duration.

Your Pass is valid for as long as Lumen's hosted sync service operates, and in any case for at least three years from the date of purchase. If the hosted service is ever discontinued, we will announce it on lumen.movie at least six months in advance, and the self-hosted relay will remain available so your devices can keep syncing through a server of your own.

Refunds.

Not happy? Within 14 days of purchase, ask for a refund through the link on your Stripe receipt and you will get it, no questions asked. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion. Any refund, including a partial one, ends the Pass; the household it was active for stops syncing through Lumen's relay and keeps its local data. If a payment is disputed with the card issuer, the Pass is suspended until the dispute is resolved.

Without a Pass.

When a trial ends or a Pass is refunded or transferred away, syncing through Lumen's relay pauses. The app keeps working; your library, history and settings stay on your devices; changes made in the meantime are kept and sync again once a Pass is active for that household.

Your data.

There is no account. Sync data is encrypted on your devices; the relay stores it without being able to read it. For a Pass purchase, the relay additionally stores a random purchase reference and the email address from checkout, encrypted, so it can send and recover your key. Details are on the Privacy.

About Lumen Pass

Sync

Encrypted data you send to the relay stays yours; we cannot read it, and we may remove data from households that have not connected for a long time. You may run your own relay instead.

Third-party software

Lumen contains open-source components under their own licences, including a playback engine built from LGPL sources. The notices ship with the app and are listed in Cài đặt → Giới thiệu → Giấy phép; the sources and build recipe for the engine are available on request at the address below.

Changes

We may update these terms for future purchases. The version in force when you bought applies to the duration and refund promises made to you.
